Softball Game Preview: Sewickley Academy vs. Union Knights/Damsels

Sewickley Academy took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Side, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Sewickley Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Side 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for Sewickley Academy, who until this game were averaging 2.13 runs allowed.

Sanaa Grant (2026) was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Quincy Sirko (2025) was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Sewickley Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive contests.
