Football Recap: Overton Takes a Loss

The Overton Wolverines came up short against the Oakhaven Hawks on Friday, falling 44-20. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oakhaven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gregory Walls led the charge by rushing for 126 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Walls is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Caver, who threw for 282 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt.

Overton now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Oakhaven, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overton will challenge Bartlett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakhaven, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
