Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Crusaders vs. Jupiter Warriors

Cardinal Newman hasn't had much luck against Jupiter recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Crusaders are taking a road trip to face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Cardinal Newman is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

If Cardinal Newman beats Jupiter with four runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Crusaders walked away with a 4-1 victory over Spanish River on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Gabriel Acevedo, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Finn Duran was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

Acevedo wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Cardinal Newman lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spanish River didn't launched any home runs.

Meanwhile, Jupiter won against Royal Palm Beach on Wednesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Warriors blew past Dwyer 14-4. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Gabe Graulau was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Blanks, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Jupiter and bumps their season record up to 16-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, they pushed their record up to 20-2-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cardinal Newman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Jupiter struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
