Baseball Recap: Edinburg Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Edinburg can now relate to. They fell just short of the Harlingen Cardinals by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Chris Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Edinburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gael Espino, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was Espino's first of the season.

Edinburg's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Harlingen, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cardinals beat Edinburg by a score of 5-0 on Friday.
