Softball Recap: Clewiston Takes a Loss

Clewiston extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-10. They came up short against the Avon Park Red Devils, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 back in February.

As for Avon Park, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.

For Avon Park's part, Clewiston's batters probably weren't too happy with Sophia Heston, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up two walks).

At the plate, Alyssa Henderson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Skylar Hicks also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Clewiston has already played their next contest, a 20-1 loss against Cardinal Newman on the 14th. As for Avon Park, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 victory against DeSoto County on the 13th.
