Basketball Game Preview: Newton-Conover Red Devils vs. East Burke Cavaliers

The Newton-Conover Red Devils will square off against the East Burke Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Newton-Conover is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Lincolnton on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Newton-Conover had to suffer through a 71-43 loss at the hands of Lincolnton. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Wolves are ranked 138th).

Meanwhile, East Burke came up short against Bandys on Tuesday and fell 77-65. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Newton-Conover's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for East Burke, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Newton-Conover didn't have too much breathing room in their game against East Burke in their previous meeting on January 7th, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win.
