Softball Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Calvary Christian Academy had lost six games at home, but after bumping their record up to 4-10 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Delaware County Christian Knights a 10-0 shutout. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Eva Buonopane was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Chandler, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Delaware County Christian, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

On Delaware County Christian's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maryn D'Antonio, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian Academy will face off against Collegium Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougar have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.73 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Delaware County Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Dock Mennonite at 3:00 p.m. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
