Preview: Pinson Valley Indians vs. Clay-Chalkville Cougars
The Pinson Valley Indians will be playing at home against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Pinson Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pinson Valley walked away with it. They breezed by the Blue Devils on the road to the tune of 69-35 on Monday. Given Pinson Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Mortimer Jordan is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinson Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Clyde Walters, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Walters hasn't dropped below eight assists for four straight games. Austin Coner was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clay-Chalkville earned a 53-46 win over Hewitt-Trussville on Thursday.
Pinson Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Clay-Chalkville, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-8.
Pinson Valley couldn't quite finish off Clay-Chalkville when the teams last played back in January and fell 60-58. Can Pinson Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
