Baseball Game Preview: Piner Prospectors vs. Maria Carrillo Pumas

Piner is 0-3 against Maria Carrillo since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Prospectors will challenge the Pumas at 4:00 p.m. Piner will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Piner barely beat St. Vincent de Paul the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Prospectors were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Mustangs on Friday. The Prospectors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 15-7).

Meanwhile, Maria Carrillo came up short against Ukiah on Friday and fell 6-2. The Pumas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maria Carrillo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Stark, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Joseph Edwards-Phillips also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Piner's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Maria Carrillo, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Piner might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Maria Carrillo in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Can the Prospectors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
