Neuqua Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They won by a set and slipped past the Geneva Vikings 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since October 12, 2024.

Neuqua Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-15, 25-23.

Geneva lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ally Stevenson, who had 13 assists and seven digs. Madison Mannon was another key player, getting 13 assists and five digs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Neuqua Valley will challenge St. Charles East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Geneva, they will head out to take on South Elgin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
