Basketball Preview: Bruton Panthers vs. Lafayette Rams
Bruton is 0-10 against the Rams since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bruton Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lafayette Rams at 5:30 p.m.
After soaring to 55 points the game before, Bruton were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-24 loss at the hands of Jamestown. Bruton has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Lafayette can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Poquoson with a sharp 52-26 victory. The victory was nothing new for Lafayette as they're now sitting on three straight.
Lafayette's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dynasti Pierce, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was MaKayla Keys, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Bruton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Lafayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Bruton was dealt a bruising 55-13 loss at the hands of the Rams when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Bruton, Alexis Blake (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
