Softball Recap: Golden Gate Sets Scoring Season-High Against South Fort Myers

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Golden Gate). They were the clear victors by a 29-14 margin over the South Fort Myers Wolfpack on Thursday. With that win, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Golden Gate got a massive performance out of Nicol Romero-Camargo, who scored four runs and stole nine bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those nine stolen bases gave Romero-Camargo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj (Jaylene) Gutierrez, who scored four runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Golden Gate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 13.8.

Golden Gate's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-11. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.0 runs over those games. As for South Fort Myers, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Golden Gate will square off against Mason Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Fort Myers, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-0 defeat against Babcock on the 11th.
