Softball Recap: Justin-Siena Braves vs. Casa Grande Gauchos
Justin-Siena extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Casa Grande Gauchos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gauchos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on April 4th.
Justin-Siena saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Georgia Andres, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Casa Grande, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
On Casa Grande's side, Brittony Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Haley Learn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Veronica Nunez-Miller was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Justin-Siena wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 22-4 loss against American Canyon on the 2nd. As for Casa Grande, they have also already played their next match, a 9-4 win against Vintage on the 2nd.
