Soccer Game Preview: Canton vs. Loyd Star + Official Tickets

The Canton Tigers will challenge the Loyd Star Hornets at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Canton's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Canton's offense. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Warren Central an easy 13-0 win. While losing is never fun, Canton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Warren Central are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Loyd Star came tearing into two weeks ago's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bobcats 5-1. The result was nothing new for Loyd Star, who have now won ten contests by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Bogue Chitto with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emma King (2), Adi Holcomb (2), and De'Zyriyah Banks.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Loyd Star, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
