Basketball Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. Fort Wayne North Side Legends

The Leo Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Wayne North Side Legends at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Saturday, Leo strolled past East Noble with points to spare, taking the game 56-40.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne North Side played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Warsaw, falling 79-57. While losing is never fun, the Legends can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Tigers are ranked 24th).

Leo will have to keep a close watch on Max Goheen and Jordan Woods, a pair of players who had a big impact on Fort Wayne North Side's prior game. Goheen went 6 for 7 en route to 17 points and five assists, while Woods went 8 of 14 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Goheen a new career-high in blocks (two). Connor Siratei was another key player, putting up six points.

Leo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Fort Wayne North Side, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Leo came up short against Fort Wayne North Side in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 65-61. Can Leo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
