With a playoff win on the line, Canyon View rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Verrado Vipers 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on 17 straight.

Brody Meyer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one double.

In other pitching news, Cason Hagerman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Meyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max King, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Canyon View's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Verrado, they moved to 19-8-1 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Canyon View will take on Catalina Foothills on Thursday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Verrado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
