Basketball Recap: Mount Vernon Comes Up Short

If Mount Vernon was riding high fresh off their 70-46 takedown of Oak Harbor last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mount Vernon Bulldogs took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sumner Spartans on Saturday.

Mount Vernon now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Sumner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Mount Vernon will finish 2024 at home by hosting Marysville-Pilchuck at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Vernon is facing Marysville-Pilchuck at the right time seeing as Marysville-Pilchuck is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Sumner, they will be taking part in a tournament against Incline at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Sumner has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
