Basketball Preview: West Cowboys vs. Walnut Ridge Scots
West is 0-10 against the Scots since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The West Cowboys will stay at home for another game and welcome the Walnut Ridge Scots at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Scots are ranked 162nd).
Even though West has not done well against the 76ers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West managed a 51-47 win over the 76ers. The victory was just what West needed coming off of a 73-32 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Walnut Ridge was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 53-52 to the Bulldogs. Walnut Ridge has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Dominique Aekins, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Deyaire Adams, who scored four points.
West's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Walnut Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
