Volleyball Recap: Ava Polack Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Muncie Burris

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Warsaw, Elkhart was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Muncie Burris Owls as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

While Elkhart won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 27-25.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elkhart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Polack, who had 11 kills and four digs. That's the most kills Polack has posted over her last ten matches. Ava Walker was another key player, getting 11 digs and two aces.

Piper Lanning and Anna Murray certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Lanning had 18 digs and one assist, while Murray had six digs and four assists. Lanning has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Elkhart's win bumped their record up to 20-9. As for Muncie Burris, their loss ended an 11-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-6.

Coming up, Elkhart will head out on the road to take on Northridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Muncie Burris, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Muncie Central at 6:00 p.m.
