Basketball Game Preview: Pierce Bears vs. Durham Trojans

The Pierce Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Durham Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Pierce had to suffer through a 71-42 loss at the hands of Colusa. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the RedHawks 20-15 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Durham had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They breezed by the Bobcats to the tune of 52-22. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Bobcats are ranked 782nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Durham's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. As for Pierce, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Pierce took a serious blow against Durham in their previous meeting back in January, falling 70-43. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pierce was down 36-15.
