The Westfield Shamrocks will square off against the Pendleton Heights Arabians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Westfield is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Westfield and Mt. Vernon meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Shamrocks lost 8-2 to the Marauders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Shamrocks have suffered since May 20, 2024.

Westfield got a good showing from Shea Vohs, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Vohs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Kainrath made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Pendleton Heights earned a 9-5 win over Mt. Vernon on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Arabians.

Brynlie Holden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last eight contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Avry Miller was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Aubrey Fox was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs.

Pendleton Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Pendleton Heights back to even at 10-10. As for Westfield, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324.
