Baseball Recap: West Vikings vs. Foothill Trojans
West extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-18. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Foothill Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-0 defeat on Tuesday.
Adrian Camacho was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.
As for Foothill, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
On Foothill's side, Ramon Diaz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Diaz has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Conrado Machuca and Joezeph Camberos did most of the damage at the plate: Machuca went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Camberos went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Camberos a new career-high.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West will head out to challenge Tehachapi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to square off against Del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
