Volleyball Recap: Phillips Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Phillips and Prentice, and Prentice kept the tradition alive. The Loggers fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Loggers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Phillips wouldn't go down easily and took Prentice into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-18, 21-25, 23-25, 15-11.

Prentice was led to victory by Sophie Staroba and Piper Heikkinen. Staroba had seven digs and four aces, while Heikkinen had 24 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Heikkinen is now averaging an impressive 10.6 digs per game.

Phillips' defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Prentice, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5.

Phillips wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Owen-Withee on the 20th. As for Prentice, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Rhinelander on the 18th.
