The Massac County Patriots will challenge the Crab Orchard Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Massac County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Massac County's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Carterville hitters got past them. The Patriots fell 10-5 to the Lions on Friday. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ryan Musselman was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Elliott, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Crab Orchard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Galatia/Thompsonville, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered against the Bearcats since March 28, 2023.

Crab Orchard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Dawes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles. Carter Watts was another, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Massac County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Crab Orchard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
