After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Camden, Hartsville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Darlington Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Red Foxes, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Brandon Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Dorian Mason was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Web Barnes was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Hartsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Darlington only posted an OBP of .353.
Hartsville's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Darlington, their record is now 5-9.
Hartsville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
