Mahnomen/Waubun had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Lake of the Woods on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bears. Considering the Thunderbirds have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mahnomen/Waubun is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Lake of the Woods, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
