Recap: Latta Vikings vs. Lamar Silver Foxes
The Latta Vikings can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They secured a 51-45 W over Lamar. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Latta has managed all season.
Amir Rogers was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mcrae, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, one person who can't be blamed is NyShaun "Shaun" Quillen. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Quillen is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Xavier "Zoom" Jackson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Latta's victory bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Lamar, their loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Latta will take on Green Sea Floyds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamar, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lake View at 8:00 p.m.
