Softball Recap: North Valleys' Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

North Valleys dropped their record down to 18-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-2 to the Churchill County Greenwave. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

North Valleys saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annaka Fischer, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

As for Churchill County, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On Churchill County's side, Janessa Bettencourt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. Bettencourt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sutton Yost was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Taraylynn Vershum, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

North Valleys has already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against South Tahoe on the 9th. As for Churchill County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-8 victory against Lowry on the 9th.
