Basketball Recap: Globe Takes a Loss

Globe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 78-8 loss at the hands of the Seton Catholic Sentinels. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Sentinels are ranked 74th).

Carmella Gallardo was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points along with eight steals and three blocks for Seton Catholic. The match was Gallardo's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Dipuccio, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Globe's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Seton Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Globe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-42 defeat against Willcox on the 21st. As for Seton Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-19 victory against Highland Prep on the 21st.
