Football Game Preview: Vigor Wolves vs. Elberta Warriors + How To Watch

Vigor is a perfect 3-0 against Elberta since October of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vigor has five straight wins, Elberta has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Vigor earned a 33-21 victory over Citronelle. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Wildcats are ranked 140th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Sammy Dunn, who threw for 272 yards and three TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 51 yards and one score. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. A healthy portion of Dunn's aerial production (118 yards to be exact) went to Gerritt Holcombe, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Elberta scored the most points they've had this season last Friday, but it wasn't enough. They had to suffer through a 48-20 loss at the hands of Faith Academy.

Elberta's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Vigor, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Vigor against Elberta when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
