Baseball Recap: Pennington Gets the Win

Pennington won the last time they faced Cleveland and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pennington Tigers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Cleveland Panthers.

Noah McClendon made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

McClendon wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Timmerman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Timmerman is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Aidan McAlpin was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Pennington now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cleveland, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pennington will face off against Southeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cleveland, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers challenge the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
