Softball Recap: Gainesville Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Gainesville won against Williston on Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Hurricanes' way against the Newberry Panthers as they made off with a 13-6 win. Winning may never get old, but the Hurricanes sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

McKenna O'Sullivan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. O'Sullivan was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Braylin Cook was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Madisyn Gillins was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Gainesville pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Newberry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gainesville will face off against Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newberry, they will take on Bell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
