Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Comes Up Short

Holy Cross lost against Thrive Charter back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Holy Cross Lancers lost to Thrive Charter on the road by a 64-45 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Thrive Charter are ranked 39th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thrive Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Oui-Mia Wilkins, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Wilkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adris Oppong-Kyekyekwe, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Holy Cross' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Thrive Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thrive Charter, they will be playing at home against Medford Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
