Esperanza came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 59-55 W against the Servite Friars.

Despite the loss, Servite saw an underclassman step up: freshman Carlos Galvan posted 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Saiger Smith, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Esperanza's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Servite, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Coming up, Esperanza will take on Los Altos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aztecs will need to watch out since the Conquerors have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Servite, they will challenge Dana Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
