Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Point Loma

Point Loma hadn't done well against Cathedral Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pointers skirted past the Dons 1-0. This was a revenge game for the Pointers: when they faced off against the Dons two weeks ago, they had to take a 12-6 loss.

Luis Lara tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Point Loma's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Olson, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

The win (which was Point Loma's third in a row) raised their record to 18-12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cathedral Catholic, they moved to 19-11 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Point Loma nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
