Basketball Game Preview: Orangefield Bobcats vs. East Chambers Buccaneers

Orangefield hasn't had much luck against East Chambers recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Orangefield Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the East Chambers Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Orangefield duked it out withKirbyville on Friday. Orangefield simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Kirbyville 84-31. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Wildcats are ranked 1494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaden Scales continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 16 en route to 25 points along with eight assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists. Griffin Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Orangefield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.8 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.7.

Meanwhile, East Chambers came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Warriors to the tune of 83-39. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

East Chambers has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for Orangefield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-8.

Orangefield came up short against East Chambers when the teams last played on January 3rd, falling 70-59. Can Orangefield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
