Softball Game Preview: Palmyra-Eagle Panthers vs. Johnson Creek Bluejays

For the second straight game, Palmyra-Eagle will face off against Johnson Creek. The Panthers will challenge the Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Palmyra-Eagle is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Johnson Creek just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 20-1 to the Bluejays. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

For Johnson Creek's part, Tori Buglass made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Buglass has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Madi Brigowatz was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Libby Burbach, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Johnson Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Johnson Creek's third in a row) raised their record to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Palmyra-Eagle, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
