Softball Recap: Civic Memorial Comes Up Short

Softball Recap: Civic Memorial Eagles vs. Marissa/Coulterville Meteors
Civic Memorial extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.
Emma Wade was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
As for Marissa/Coulterville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.
On Marissa/Coulterville's side, Kennedy Trieb was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Trieb has posted since back in April of 2024. Reilly Reid was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Civic Memorial will square off against Triad at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they will host Steeleville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
