Football Recap: Wilber-Clatonia Gets the Win

While Wilber-Clatonia's victory against Fairbury wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines pulled ahead with a 13-12 photo finish over the Jeffs on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Jeffs: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Wilber-Clatonia to victory were Aven Smith and Zach Marsh. Smith rushed for 63 yards and one score, while Marsh gained 134 total yards. Those 63 rushing yards gave Smith a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wilber-Clatonia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Another reason for the win was Wilber-Clatonia's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Brock Young with two.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Fairbury, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
