Volleyball Recap: Zion-Benton Comes Up Short

Zion-Benton extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-17 in the process. They fell 2-0 to the Lake Zurich Bears. If the Zee-Bees were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Bears when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Lake Zurich, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won nine contests in a row.

Lake Zurich's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nikola Stanojevic, who had 13 digs and three assists. Those 13 digs gave Stanojevic a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Zion-Benton will take on Leyden in a tournament on Friday. As for Lake Zurich, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
