Soccer Game Preview: Morenci vs. Tombstone

The Morenci Wildcats will take on the Tombstone Yellow Jackets in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

After dropping their season opener at home, Tombstone is headed out to face a Morenci team ready to give their home crowd a win. Morenci came up short against Desert Christian two weeks ago, falling 6-1. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no goals scored by either team from that point forward.

Meanwhile, Tombstone fell victim to Santa Cruz Valley and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dust Devils. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Morenci was able to grind out a solid win over Tombstone in their previous matchup back in January, winning 3-1. Will Morenci repeat their success, or does Tombstone have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
