Basketball Recap: Saraland Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Saraland came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Spanish Fort Toros by a score of 53-42. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Toros are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saraland was led to victory by Destinee Davis and Raine Lofton. Davis went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals, while Lofton went 5 for 9 on her way to 14 points and seven boards. Those seven boards gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Knight, who posted eight points.

Saraland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Spanish Fort, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-16.

Saraland has already played their next contest, a 60-55 win against Bryant on the 31st. As for Spanish Fort, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-34 loss against Gulf Shores on the 31st.
