Softball Recap: Spencer Rockets vs. Owen-Withee Blackhawks

Spencer scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on the Owen-Withee Blackhawks with a sharp 17-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Spencer as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Berklie Ireland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Ireland was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Spencer got a massive performance out of Hallie Meyer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Hailey Rucker was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Spencer's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Owen-Withee, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spencer will face off against Nekoosa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owen-Withee, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Wild Rose at 9:00 a.m.
