Softball Game Preview: Southwestern Trojans vs. Olean Huskies

Southwestern is 1-9 against Olean since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Southwestern will be strutting in after a win while Olean will be coming in after a loss.

Olean will be up against a hot Southwestern team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Trojans came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against Dunkirk. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Marauders since April 29, 2019.

Olean couldn't beat Fredonia on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Huskies fell 8-5 to the Hillbillies. The Huskies have struggled against the Hillbillies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Amelia Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Anna Bates was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Southwestern's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Olean, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.

Southwestern might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Olean when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
