Softball Recap: Hillsboro Find Success

Hillsboro's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Kennedale Wildcats. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Izzy Hernandez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cloe Creech was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Laci Forns, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are 13-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hillsboro's record now sits at 15-9. As for Kennedale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9-1.

Hillsboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Ferris on the 12th. As for Kennedale, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-1 loss against Godley on the 11th.
