Baseball Recap: Mesquite's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mesquite couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 9-1 to the Salpointe Catholic Lancers on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Mesquite saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Lozano, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Mesquite moved to 22-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Salpointe Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Mesquite nor Salpointe Catholic have any future games scheduled.
