Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Bender, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. Bender is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Meanwhile, Temecula Prep got the win against San Jacinto Leadership Academy on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Patriots have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Temecula Prep got a massive performance out of Nikolaz Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave Gonzalez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Scarlett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Temecula Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jacinto Leadership Academy only posted an OBP of .316.
Temecula Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Temecula Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
