Football Recap: Torrance Tartars vs. Rosary Academy Royals
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Torrance had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 24-12 win over the Rosary Academy Royals. Winning may never get old, but the Tartars sure are getting used to it with their 15th in a row.
Jennah Black continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. An impressive showing, but she really ramped things up playing D: she made five total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions which she returned one-yard for a touchdown. Addison Wall made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Torrance didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Wall and Black were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece.
Rosary Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being K'Lene Gutierrez, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Torrance's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for Rosary Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.
Torrance wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-6 defeat against El Toro on the 26th. Rosary Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
