Softball Recap: Mountain View's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Mountain View barely beat Glendale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Mountain View Vikings' way against the Glendale Nitros on Tuesday as the Mountain View Vikings made off with a 13-2 win. Considering the Vikings' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Leanna Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Ramirez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Saldivar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. DJ Herrera was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only posted an OBP of .444.

With the victory, Mountain View broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7. As for Glendale, they moved to 7-5-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will face off against Pioneer at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Pioneer will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mountain View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Glendale, they have already played their next match, a 15-4 loss against South Pasadena on the 19th.
