Basketball Recap: Odessa Takes a Loss

Odessa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 78-54 to the Valley Christian Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-45 two weeks ago.

Leading Valley Christian to victory were Noah Burns and Westin Madden. Burns almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine boards, while Madden shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Madden is now averaging an impressive 8.7 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Madden, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Odessa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Valley Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Odessa has already played their next contest, a 91-59 loss against Wellpinit on the 25th. As for Valley Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Mary Walker at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
